Advanced Pilot Training Capability

Description
The Advanced Pilot Training Capability (APTC) project seeks replacement options for the existing fleet of advanced pilot training aircraft (the King Air B200) and the associated maintenance/support contract. The project also includes provision for modern synthetic training systems.
Government approval
In November 2007 the Government approved the commencement of the acquisition on Advanced Pilot Training Capability.
The Ministry of Defence has sought proposals for the following options to satisfy the capability requirements:
- purchase or lease of new aircraft
- purchase or lease of used aircraft
- purchase or lease of synthetic training devices
- provision of out-sourced maintenance support services.
Current status
The Request for Proposals was released 16 October 2008 with a closing date of 26 February 2009.
Responses have been evaluated.
The project has been put on "hold" subject to publication of the Defence Review 2009.
