Medium Range Anti-armour Weapon

Client: New Zealand Army

Description

This objective of this project is to procure a medium range anti-armour weapon. The weapon selected is the Javelin missile, manufactured by Raytheon/Lockheed Martin Joint Venture.

Government approval

In December 2003 the Government approved a project budget of NZ$23.8 million excluding GST.

Contract

The Javelin missile, procured from the US Government is proceeding as a Foreign Military Sales (FMS) procurement.

Current status

The components of the system have been delivered and training has been completed.

Delivery of the missiles was completed in November 2007.

Follow-on support through US Government Foreign Military Sales (FMS) is under negotiation. Initial spares for training devices are under negotiation.
