Description of the Options

Decision Paths for the Air Combat Force

Depicts the decision paths for as a flow chart for 3 options.

Option 1

Retain current capability starts with ‘upgrade weapons systems and airframes' which leads to a box with the text ‘maintain No. 2 Sqn until ENA terminated', which in turn leads to a box with the text ‘Replace A-4's'. At this point the path splits with one path leading to a box with the text '18 aircraft' and the other path leads to a final box with the text ‘24 aircraft'.

Options 2

Reduced capability starts with a box with the text ‘upgrade weapons system and airframes' which leads to a box with the text ‘contract our air combat training', which leads to a box with the text ‘disband No. 14 Squadron', this in turn leads to a box with the text ‘downsize No. 75 Squadron'. This in turn leads to a box with the text ‘maintain No. 2 Sqn until ENA terminated, which is followed by a box with the text ‘replace A-4's' and then onto the final box with the text ‘14 aircraft'.

Option 3

Disband Air Combat Force and two sub-options labelled A and B respectively. The decision path for option 3a starts with a box ‘Continue No. 14 Sqn to Dec 2001' which leads to a box with the text ‘Disband No. 75 Squadron in Oct 2001' which leads to a final box with the text ‘Cancel ENA, disband No. 2 Sqn in Oct 2001'. The decision path for option 3b starts with a box ‘Continue No. 14 Sqn to Dec 2001' which leads to a box with the text ‘Disband No. 75 Squadron when ENA terminated' which leads to a final box with the text ‘Maintain No. 2 Sqn until ENA terminated'.
