Over the last 12 months, CANTERBURY has played an integral role in developing the NZDF’s potential to conduct amphibious support to military operations, humanitarian assistance, non-combatant evacuation, as well as general naval training and support to other government agencies.

EX SEA LION 08 (Queensland) - Feb/March 08
- One Company (approx 200) Australian troops embarked then landed
EX CROIX DU SUD 08 (New Caledonia) March/April 08
- 20 NZ Army and 19 RNZAF personnel embarked for transport to New Caledonia, plus 2 UH-1H Iroquois helos, in addition to a Seasprite
- During the exercise, CANTERBURY embarked and landed 250 troops: Australian, Vanuatu & French
